This is a basic outline of the respect unit that I developed.  The main types of respect that will be taught in this unit are respect for others, self respect, and respect for diversity.  It is important to mention, however, that students also need to learn about respecting the Earth and that this could be worked into this unit as well.  I have provided a few example lessons for each type of respect, however, many more lessons would be needed to ensure that students will be learning about and practicing all the types of respect throughout the school year.  Plus, there should be more than one lesson conducted on each sub-topics of the outline to ensure that the students truly understand the concepts and have plenty of opportunities to show and get respect in a structured setting.  This way, the students will be able to carry their knowledge of respect with them for the rest of their lives and build upon it as they grow as students and human beings.
